Soil Applied Potassium

What form and when should potassium be applied to the soil? The best answer to this question can be found in an article found on our website “Potassium Paradox.” It is a very interesting report that discusses what results can be obtained by apply KCL to the soil. I would encourage anyone who is making nutrient recommendations to growers to read this paper. It very clearly points out that the anion CL has a very negative impact on other soil nutrients such as calcium, magnesium and nitrate nitrogen as well as having an impact on soil biology.

Anyone who has heard of Dr. Carey Reams and listened to what he said about CL would not be surprised by the findings in this paper. His comment about CL was to NEVER apply it to the soil. Once again, I think this proves him right.
