The Benefits of Copper as a Nutrient
Copper is the most misunderstood of the essential nutrients. Some of its functions are to help with pollination, making the bark and outer layers of plants more flexible for better nutrient flow, cell wall lignification, and color and flavor of fruits. Copper also helps the plant fight off some diseases. An over-application of nitrogen or phosphate blocks the uptake of this nutrient. Copper is not mobile in the plant, so it cannot be moved from older to newer plant parts. Visual symptoms of a severe deficiency will appear at the growing point of the plant. Sometimes the deficiency will occur, but there will be no visible symptoms. When making high application rates of nitrogen and phosphorous, follow up with an application to the foliage of CultivAce CuAce copper acetate fertilizer.
