Spring Nitrogen Applications

WE are rapidly approaching spring fertilizer applications. For the most part, this means applying high amounts of nitrogen on most crops. You need to also be thinking about how the application of nitrogen effects some of the other nutrients. As you apply nitrogen, you block the uptake of potassium, boron and copper.

If you ignore these nutrients, you can reduce your potential yield. The plants requirement for potassium is high, so not all of it can be applied as a foliar. Boron and copper on the other hand can be applied as foliar nutrients.  These two either tie up quickly in soil or leach rapidly.

Have a profitable 2020 growing season!
